Eugene trained as a solicitor with a highly respected firm of solicitor
in North Kensington. After qualification he spent a period of time in a
London local authority dealing with their housing disrepair and leading
a specialist team of solicitors and barristers. After successfully
completing that project Eugene joined another authority where he
continued to develop his legal skills. He then spent a period at the
Bar practicing from chambers in the Temple.
Four years ago Eugene was invited to join a firm of solicitors he had
regularly opposed in the Courts. Before joining Oliver Fisher he spent
four years there and established his reputation as a respected housing
law practitioner. His cases include tenant possession, mortgage
possession, disrepair, homelessness, injunctions, tenancy deposits and
other problems with landlords/tenants.
Eugene is an extremely experienced solicitor having qualified in 2002.
He also has Higher Rights of Audience and has worked on a number of high
profile cases including the case of Hounslow -v- Powell in the Supreme
Court. This case changed the law and means that a local authority, or
housing association, cannot evict someone from their home, even if they
are not a tenant, without a very good reason. In this case having
arrears were not enough to evict the Defendant.
